The perfect staycation
I’ve been living in Copenhagen for 6 years but I haven’t grown tired of the city yet. As much as I like to explore the world and travel to distant places I also like to be a tourist in my own city.
The Tivoli Garden is one of my favorite places in Copenhagen because of it’s magical atmosphere, fun rides and great dining options. So when they build the Tivoli Hotel I had to try it. So far I’ve stayed there 3 times with my husband and every stay has been delightful.
The hotel is located 1 km from the main train station which makes getting there very easy. On one side there’s a view of the canal at Islands Brygge and on the other sides you can see Vesterbro, Frederiksberg and the city center. Of course you can see the Tivoli Gardens from the hotel.
Book the Executive room
The executive room is a bit more expensive but worth it! The price depends on the dates and is approximately 1500-2000 dkk/200-270 euro/ 230-300 USD. Compared to a standard room, the extra cost (also depends on the dates but around 400 kr/54 Euro/60 USD) will give you a room on a higher floor, which improves the view of the city. The included breakfast is served at the 11th floor and offers everything you can think of. The room is spacious but the best part is the included executive lounge at the 11th floor. The lounge is only for guest staying in the executive rooms or suites, therefore it never gets crowded. The lounge serves cake in the afternoon and from 17-20 there’s snacks, small dishes, beer and wine. It’s a cozy place to sit and talk while you enjoy the view of the city.
To me luxury is when it never gets crowded, the food is of good quality, the white wine is cold and I don’t have to wait in line.
Don’t book the executive room with a loft
Once we stayed at a executive room with a loft and to be honest it’s not worth the extra cost. The loft only had room for one chair so we didn’t really use it.
At the 12th floor you’ll find excellent dining options. If you want steak there’s Mash and if you fancy sushi there’s Sticks and Sushi . Both offers great food, high quality and a stunning view of the city. Make sure to book a table in advance.
We have both been to Mash and Sticks and sushi before and since we use the hotel for staycations to relax we usually choose to get room service from the Brasserie – the burger is a great for eating in bed.
The products in hotels can vary a lot and it’s rare to find some that works well with sensitive skin. At Tivoli Hotel they have products from the danish brand Karmameju and I liked them so much that we been using them at home since our first stay. The products are without parabens, mineral oil and animal products.
From the hotel you can walk to the picturesque Nyhavn with the colorful buildings (2.6 km). Be cultural and visit Glyptoteket and see the statues, paintings and sculptures (1 km, closed Monday). Shop at Fisketorvet shopping center and take pictures of Cykelslangen – a bridge for bicycles (500 m)
