🇬🇧 Seychelle hotel review: Constance Ephelia

English posts, Rejseguides, Seychellerne, Spa

Do you want kids friendly luxury in paradise?

The 5 star luxury hotel is located at the north end of Mahe, the main island in Seychelles. From the airport it’s a 45 min. drive across the island with stunning views and steep mountain roads. The hotel is a great choice if you want to combine relaxation with lots of activities and tasty food. We saw lots of kids at the hotel and it seeming to be a popular destination for parents with newborns.

My husband and I spend 6 nights at the hotel in July 2018. Unfortunately the weather was bad so we did not spend so much time at the pool or on the beach.

Activities at the resort

Despite the rain there were lots of activities and it was easy to book tennis / squash courts. The fitness center is well equipped and has aircon and a water dispenser. The pool next to the fitness is perfect for swimming and most of the time I had the pool to myself. In the afternoon you can feed the giant turtles

Enjoy the largest spa in the Indian ocean

Book a spa appointment as soon as possible, especially if you want a couples treatment. The treatments are good and the spa area is tranquill and big – and it can be used until 14.00 free of charge.

The rooms and the food

The rooms are modern and large. We stayed at a junior suite with a garden view. The bathroom offers a bathtub and a rainshower. The hotel has a main buffet for breakfast and dinner (the pancake station is great) but you can also enjoy a la carte in the evenings. The food is good, but it’s hard to get a table in the popular restaurants.

The little details

The hotel excels at making small surprises, for example, we got served a small slushice by the pool and had champagne delivered at our room as a gift since it was our honeymoon.

What to see
We hired a driver to take us on a tour of the capital Victoria. The city has a market, a few shops and restaurants but there is not much to see and the drive across the mountain is quite bad if you tend to get motion sickness. Due to the rain we didn’t go snorkling. The downsides

We had no problems with the poisonous caterpillars and it seems that the hotel is doing their best to minimise the risk.

The drinks are expensive, 35kr/5Eur for a bottle of water or can of coke, 55kr/8eur for a small bag of chips. However, there is a kiosk just outside the hotel with reasonable prices (walk out via the main entrance and follow the road to the right, the first kiosk accepts Visa and cash).

The hotel is good and I would like to stay at one of the other Constance hotels but I don’t think we’ll be coming back to Seychelles because of the very high humidity and the long flight from Copenhagen. The beach didn’t make my top 5, but perhaps it would have if it hadn’t rained most days.
