Normally I prefer a hotel to have a minimalist design but last weekend I stayed at a hotel which had chandeliers, gold and flowers everywhere and I totally loved it!
The Alchymist grand hotel and spa combines the rococo style with attentive service and an underground spa into an amazing experience. Imagine living like a princess in Prague in 1750.
We had a private driver pick us up at the airport (53 eur/61usd in total) which was a quick and easy way to get to the hotel but you can also take the bus from the airport.
We stayed in a deluxe room with twin beds from Friday to Sunday (640 eur/730 usd in total). We arrived before lunch and had a cup of tea while the receptionist took care of the check in. We got our room straight away and the hotel supplied us with loads of information about the hotel and the city.
The room was spacious, clean and had a chandelier that went along nicely with the ornamented furniture and the gold paint.
Afternoon wine and cheese
In the afternoon the hotel serves complimentary local cheese and wine. It’s a great opportunity to talk to the other guest or to relax in a velvet sofa.
You know the hotel is great when there’s 5 different kinds of butter to choose from and they also had an organic section. We added champagne to our breakfast Saturday morning and spend 1.5 hour eating. The room looks like something from a high class train with arched ceilings and wall paintings.
The spa is located in the basement and has a very unique ambiance. It’s like walking around in a castle dungeon – only there’s a indoor waterfall that ends in a fishpond and soothing music plays in the background.
There’s an area for relaxing, a pool and a sauna.
I was taken to a room that almost looked like a vault to have a milk bath and a massage. It was so relaxing and the perfect way to end a great stay.
The hotel has a small garden filled with flowers and I would love to come back in spring when they all bloom.
The hotel is located between the castle and the bridge but since the American embassy is located across from the hotel the street is patrolled and the area is pretty quiet. It was a perfect starting point for exploring the city by foot and since the sky was grey and rainy the whole weekend we were happy to stay in a great hotel.
