🇬🇧 Preparing for Riga

English posts, Latvia

This might have been my least planned trip ever. Normally I like to plan, it part of the fun but this trip was book a few weeks before departure and I didn’t have much spare time.

My friend Nina booked the flight while I was in Greece and luckily my boss let me have the day off, because our flights was at 7 in the morning. We paid about 600 kr./80 Euro for a Copenhagen-Riga round-trip. The flight is about an hour.

I used www.hotels.com to get an idea about the price level in Riga and since it’s rather affordable it wasn’t hard to convince Nina to spend a little extra to stay at a great location and have a bit of luxury.

We chose Pullman hotel and I booked the hotel directly. On the downside I didn’t earn free nights at hotels.com but if the price is the same I prefer to book directly with the hotel. We paid around 1700 kr. / 230 Euro for 2 nights.

To make the most of our time we only traveled with hand luggage. Since it’s only 2 night I barely packed anything. Just a bit of extra clothes, a bikini for the spa and an extra pair of shoes. My tiny bag was only half full, but that might be because I packed most of my stuff at 5 in the morning.

I’ve traveled with Nina since high school and I know she’s happy to let me be the tour guide. But this time I didn’t have time to make a detailed plan. Our master plan was to walk around the city Friday and do indoor activities Saturday due to the risk of rain.
